JBA started soon after the death of Devoid of Faith. I wanted to do something similar, but with an added twist with different people. I also wanted to Jam with Robb and Scott J (Lariat, Burning Bridges). The band started off with all us three splitting the vocal duties and writing a few songs (with Scott on bass). Scott had come up with the name John Browns Army, as he's into his politics and history. We then decided Scott's vocals ruled and moved him over to being the frontman. We then brought in Matto to play bass. Not long after this, Scott quit the band due to his living/playing relationship with with Matto. The remaining members then decided I would try to do the vocals and continue playing guitar. In doing this I needed help with a second guitarist, as I didn't trust my ability to do both. Matto moved over to second guitar and we brought in Eric, a long time friend of ours to play bass.
